There are a lot of great chocolate chip cookie recipes out there and there are also some not so great ones. I have been searching for the best chocolate chip cookie recipe for a long time and have finally found it. It’s fairly simple to make and it really is the best one I have found. I hope you enjoy it.

This chocolate chip cookie recipe will make about 4 dozen amazing chocolate chip cookies.

Here are the ingredients you will need:

• 3/4      cup granulated sugar
• 3/4      cup packed brown sugar
• 1         cup butter or margarine, softened
• 1         egg
• 2 1/4   cups of all-purpose flour
• 1         teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2      teaspoon salt
• 1         cup coarsely chopped nuts (if you want nuts in yours)
• 1         package (12 ounces) of chocolate chips (2 cups) – I prefer milk chocolate chips, but you can use semisweet ones as well.

Here is how you put it all together:

1.    Heat your oven to 375ºF.
2.    Combine sugars, butter and egg in a large bowl. Stir in the flour, baking soda and salt (dough should be stiff). Mix in the chocolate chips, and nuts if you like.
3.    Make tablespoon sized balls and drop them about 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
4.    Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until light brown (centers should be soft). Let them cool a little then remove them from the cookie sheet. Finally, cool them on a wire cooling rack.

THE MAMA TEST – I was out walking with my 4-year-old daughter. She picked up something off of the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that. ‘Why?’ my daughter asked. ‘Because it’s been on the ground; you don’t know where it’s been, it’s dirty, and probably has germs,’ I replied’.At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, ‘Mama, how do you know all this stuff? You are so smart. ‘ I was thinking quickly and replied, ‘All moms know this stuff. It’s on the Mama test. You have to know it, or they don’t let you be a Mama.’ We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information. ‘Oh…..I get it!’ she beamed, ‘So if you don’t pass the test you have to be the daddy..’ ‘Exactly,’ I replied with a big smile on my face.
